Ella Mae Hightower, 86, 102 Constitution Ave., Covington, died at 1:50 a.m., Friday, April 29, 1994 at the United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, in Danville. She was born on Feb. 23, 1908, in Graham County, NC, to William and Letha Coleman Johnson. She was married to Hubert Cecil Hightower, who preceded her in death in 1951. Mrs. Hightower was a homemaker and had lived in Covington for a year. She was a member of the Brevard Baptist Church at Brevard, NC, and a member of the Wabash Senior Citizens. Survivors include a daughter, Caroline June Wallace, Covington; two grandsons, Michael and John Wallace, Covington and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters. Graveside services were Monday, May 2, 1994, at 11 a.m. at Bonaventure Cemetery, Canton, NC. The Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, handled arrangements. – jlr
